Rules of Ludo

three-dimensional die
There are many variations of the Ludo game but these are the rules for the above game.
  • - Each player needs to roll a 1 or 6 to enter a token into the game.

  • - If a player has no tokens on board and fails to roll a 1 or 6, the turn passes to the next player.

  • - If a player has tokens on the board and rolls a 1 or 6, they can move a token already on the board or enter a new one.

  • - Players alternate turns in a clockwise direction and select a token to move based on roll result.

  • - If a player rolls a 6, they get an extra turn.

  • - If a player's token lands on a tile already occupied by an opponent's token, the opponent's token is returned to it's home.

  • - If a player's token lands on a tile already occupied by two tokens of an opponent, the opponent's tokens are safe.

  • - All tokens on the safe tiles (marked ✪) are safe even if an opponent lands on them.

  • - Tokens returned to their homes can be re-entered into the game if the player rolls a 1 or 6.

  • - After a token makes it's way completely around the board (51 moves), it can enter it's colored column.

  • - The colored columns can only be occupied by tokens of the same color. All tokens are safe in their colored columns.

  • - Tokens in the colored columns can advance toward the center tile but can only enter the center tile on an exact roll.

  • - The first player to get all four tokens to the center tile wins the game!
